As a member of the Delaware African American Heritage Council you will enjoy exclusive benefits while supporting the work within Delaware County. Annual membership dues help fund our ability to develop and deliver programs and the many ways we assist and enrich our community. Memberships are annual and vary based on your household or affiliation. Below is a brief description of those levels:

Voting Member

Voting members ($30) support the work of DAAHC and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. From a leadership, governance and oversight perspective, each voting board member is expected to:

  • Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs

  • Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements

  • Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission

  • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission

  • Give a meaningful personal financial donation commensurate with your capacity

  • Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and can influence public policy

  • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings

  • Participate fully in one or more committees

Voting members will serve a two-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Board meetings will be held on the 3rd Thursdays each month and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full membership meetings. The number of voting members is limited to 11 and must be elected to the position by the general membership. Elections for voting members are held in January each year.
